Industrial Commission Announces the Appointment of George Gutierrez to Commissioner

Commissioner George Gutierrez(BOISE) – The Idaho Industrial Commission is pleased to announce the appointment of George Gutierrez as Employer Commissioner.

Gutierrez most recently served as Director of the Commission and brings 38 years of leadership experience across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. His background includes 28 years of service to the State of Idaho and 25 years as a small business owner. Prior to his public service career, Gutierrez spent a decade in the private sector, specializing in workers’ compensation, employment development, and leadership roles within national nonprofit organizations.

He holds a master’s degree in psychology from Pepperdine University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles.

“The appointment of George Gutierrez as a Commissioner of the Idaho Industrial Commission brings a trusted and knowledgeable leader to the role of representing Idaho’s employers,” said Commission Chair Claire Sharp. “His deep understanding of the Commission’s Crime Victims Compensation Program, combined with his many years as a state employee and small business owner, provides valuable institutional knowledge and the practical experience this role requires.
